Wat Rong Khun – more commonly known to us foreigners as the White Temple – is one of the most distinct examples of modern Thai art that exists. This photo goes back to March 2012 during my final stretch in Thailand.
The journey to Chiang Rai from Chiang Mai took a good few hours on a maniacal bus with timely naps, but it was absolutely worth it. The photo itself, while beautiful, doesn’t do the site itself justice; the intricacy of the design of the whole site from macro to micro-level is nothing short of astounding.
As I say to people who ask me to describe any place I’ve enjoyed, you really have to go there yourself to understand.
